Invertors (Variable Speed Drives)

Leisure Design specialise in the installation and design of pump invertors. Swimming pool circulation pumps use a significant quantity of energy; this energy can be reduced by fitting an inverter which will control the speed of the circulation pumps.

Most swimming pool and spa circulation pumps are oversized due to the limited range of pump sizes available. This is so that designed turnover periods can be maintained. The result of this is a build up of pressure, not an increase of flow rate, within the system which in turn causes poor filtration. By reducing the pump speed, pressure is reduced and the system will work to the perfect flow rate and pressure, therefore improving filtration efficiency. By reducing the pump speed/pressure during filtration the pump speed can be automatically increased for backwashing which will then also improve backwashing efficiency.

Carbon Trust Loans

Why a 0% business loan makes business sense:

www.carbontrust.co.uk/ni/ni/business-loans/Pages/loans.aspx

  • You can borrow between £3,000 and £100,000 interest free to purchase energy saving equipment
  • Anticipated energy savings offset the loan repaymentso new equipment should pay for itself and you should continue to make savings year on year
  • The loans are government funded and unsecured
  • A straightforward and fast application process with no arrangement fees
  • You’ll receive a conditional offer within 24 hours of your application being processed
  • Loans can be repaid over a period of up to 4 years
  • You can track the progress of your application online

Thermal Insulation

Working in conjunction with the superlative insulation system, Leisure Design are able to reduce the heating cost of your swimming pool by up to 90% with the insulation of the inner, outer walls and floor, achieving incredible ‘U Values’ of U-0.28, U-0.20, U-0.15

World’s First Passive Swimming Pool

Leisure Design is proud to be working in conjunction with engineers to produce the world’s first Passive Swimming Pool here in Scotland.

Passivhaus or 'Passive House' is the fastest growing energy performance standard in the world with 30,000 buildings realised to date, the majority of those since 2000. The Passivhaus Standards strengths lie in the simplicity of its approach; build a house that has an excellent thermal performance, exceptional airtightness with mechanical ventilation!

This robust approach to building design allows the designer to minimise the 'Heating Demand' of the building and in some residential buildings only specify a heated towel rail as means of conventional heating, this heat can then be recovered and circulated by a Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit.

As well as being an energy performance standard Passivhaus also provides excellent indoor air quality, this is achieved by reducing the air infiltration rates and supplying fresh air which is filtered and post heated by the MVHR unit.

Sustainable Equipment

Pool Cover
Installation of a pool cover reduces water loss due to evaporation by 30% in public pools and up to 65% in private pools. As a result an energy saving of around 25% is made.

LED Lighting
Using LED lighting allows energy saving of up to 80% thanks to the increased efficiency of this technology. Additional advantages are longer lifespan and varied dynamic atmospheric performance.

Glass Filter Media
The use of recycled glass as a filter medium can save up to 25% of water required to back wash filters. In public pool the combination of air and water in the cleaning process saves between 30 and 60% of the water consumed.

Heat Pumps
Water to water heat exchangers have the ability to save up to 80% in replacing heated water. Air to air heat exchangers offer a similar performance condensate recovery units are able to recover 100% of water vapour. This can be utilised for grey water.

Ultra Violet Disinfection
Ultra Violet disinfection systems enable a reduction in chlorine by up to 30%. They also reduce the presence of by products derived from disinfection saving up to 50% in top up water.

Pre-Filters
Reducing the filter work load in the removal of solids in suspension by installing a pre-filtration device decreases the back wash water required by 50%.
